چکیده

Microbially Induced Calcium Carbonate Precipitation (MICP) is a natural biocementation that takes place in corals, stromatolites and beach rocks. In recent years, researchers have explored the emulation of this process as sustainable alternative engineered cement. Although undoubtedly sustainable, its variant deviates substantially from process. paper, we investigate environmental economic performance vis-à-vis present manufacturing calcium carbonate. SimaPro 8.0 software Ecoinvent V2.2 database were used for materials inputs AUSLCI along with Cumulative Energy Demand 2.01 carbon footprint eutrophication potential. Our results show different metabolic pathways MICP considerably varying impact. We observe nature performs sustainably at ambient conditions geological time scales utilizing naturally occurring sources micromoles concentrations. Due to mandate on duration construction projects, highly purified reactants high concentration are This has negative conclude sustainability directly impacted by pathway bacteria well purity input chemicals. A few biotic processes superior industrial carbonate if ingredients laboratory grade replaced products. bigger dividend can be obtained introducing industry by-products nutrients. The study help direct future research developing biocement industry.

Using Life-cycle Assessment for Sustainable Consumption

The 2002 World Summit for Sustainable Development in Johannesburg called for a comprehensive set of programs focusing on sustainable consumption and production. According to world leaders, these programs should rely on life cycle analysis (LCA) to promote sustainable patterns of production and consumption. Cleaner production is a wellestablished activity and it uses LCA. UNEP, the European Unio...

Life Cycle Assessment of Sustainable Concrete Made With Recycled Aggregates

The results of an environmental study on concrete manufacture that follows the standard protocol of life cycle assessment are shown in this document. The study has been done for seven types of concrete: one conventional and six containing cement kiln dust (10%), marble sludge (10%) and demolition waste (10%, 80% and 100%) respectively, in partial or total substitution of natural aggregate. Six ...

Emerging approaches, challenges and opportunities in life cycle assessment.

In the modern economy, international value chains--production, use, and disposal of goods--have global environmental impacts. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) aims to track these impacts and assess them from a systems perspective, identifying strategies for improvement without burden shifting. We review recent developments in LCA, including existing and emerging applications aimed at supporting envi...

Life Cycle Sustainable Development: An Extension of the Product Life Cycle Assessment Framework to Address Questions of Sustainable Consumption and Development

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is the flagship analytical tool in the Industrial Ecology “toolbox”, with a history of 30 years of practical application in both industry and government, and a global and growing body of practitioners in industry and academia. LCA points to opportunities for: a) consumers to select products which are “greener” (that is, less environmentally damaging from an overall p...
